A solid musical foundation enables our students to achieve more than they could imagine.
The research is in. A team at Northwestern University discovered that children who studied music with Harmony Project became better listeners with improved reading skills and better focus in the midst of a chaotic environment. According to lead researcher Nina Kraus, music may play a crucial role in closing the academic achievement gap between affluent and low-income children.
Harmony Project is committed to each student’s development from 3rd grade through High School graduation.
Our students thrive in a nurturing environment that offers:
Practice.
All students are enrolled in group instrument lessons and ensemble classes.
In most cases, instruments are provided for to each child to participate.
Our ensembles range from beginning to advanced chamber music and our ever-growing orchestra.
Our diverse staff of professional teaching artists are accomplished musicians that bring a variety of life experiences to expand the view of our students.
Performance.
We love to watch our students gain confidence as they learn new pieces and perform for each other.
We’re proud to report that Harmony Project students have a reputation of being well prepared when they enter competitive music programs at the middle and high school levels.
Performance skills such as intense focus and respecting your peers as a team prepare our students for accomplished lives.
Peers.
The most obvious results of our success is experiencing our advanced students returning to mentor our beginning musicians. The young ones have someone to look up to, while our older students have an opportunity to hone valuable teaching skills.
We have entire families enrolled in our program! Brothers, sisters and cousins are all making music together and enjoying healthier bonds and connection with community.
